hey I didn't know where to post this but I have a question. I want to modify my sump and take out a glass divider and extend some areas. I have 3 hydor sponges, 2 p/h with prefilters, and a koralia evo 1400ghp in a 150g.

Would it be ok if i shut the sump down for 2-4days? The seachem matrix in the sump will be placed in an established 55g tank in the mean time. I just don't want any deaths since a good chunk of the BB will be out of commission for a few days.

As long as the media is oxygenated and has a food source (ammonia from fish waste) it will survive. I'd put the media in laundry bags and float in your same 150g tank. Bacteria will begin to die after about 4hrs with no oxygen.

thank you!

what about the fish? I guess I can decrease feeding them and do some big water changes everyday.

As long as you take the bio media out of the sump and put it in the tank, you'll have no ill affects on the system or fish. The bb has grown on the media to support the appropriate load. No matter where the bio media is place in your system, it is there regardless if in the sump or in the tank.
