I'm getting either a 5 gallon fluval spec or a 10 gallon marineland tank next week. It's going to be a nano heavily planted (to the point where the plants are my main filtration) tank. I'm still debating what to put in it but I'd really like a catfish or two of some species. I noticed the LFS I'm getting it from had some tiny 0.5" synos in a nano and they look awesome but I'm sure they're growouts. How long do you guys think a synodontis eupterus purchased at about half an inch would last in a planted 5 with several other fish? It would go into my 75 once it gets to big which is home to 6 giant danios, 1 striped raph, 1 growout gibbiceps pleco, and 2 breeding cutteri cichlids (I know the syno may eat the eggs but at this point I already have 2 cavier hungry cats in there so I doubt there would be a big difference). So approximately how many months would this work for and do I have room in the 75 with the fish in it now? If this isn't even worth attempting then what are some other good catfish I could do other than Pygmy cories and otocinclus? Thanks for the help guys!
