how long would it take for a 3 inch silver arowana to outgrow a 100 gallon, (60"x18"x20").

just want to know how long , if i got one, till it would be time for a new tank.

so what do yall think?
im sure ill get flamed for even thinking bout an aro in a 100 gal...............

No dude. Just make sure you upgrade when the time is right. Tank size with aros is a very touchy subject. I have my baby in a 55 and he does fine. Hes about 8 in now and im probably gonna move him when he is like a foot. Figure my tank is like 4 times longer than him. And i know people who keep 24 inchers in 6 foot tanks. That only 3 times longer. Depends on the dimensions of your tank.

Id say when he hits the 13 in mark upgrade. People keep aros for their life in 125 gals oftwn. I think thats bare minimum but they swear the aro is happy.

Also keep in mind depending on how u feed him he can grow to 13 in in like a few months. :)

imo. from 3in i think in about probably a year then its time for you to upgrade.

I have a young silver who has grown about 4" to 5" in only a couple of months. It's amazing how fast they grow. From this experience, I would think less than a year.

I agree with both the last two. Probably a year or less.

I wouldn't look at time as an indicator. The size is the main thing to look at. Some grow fast, some grow slower. Depends on temp of tank, food fed, how often fed, and how clean the water is. Under normal conditions probably 1-1.5 years if it is a 72x18 footprint.

his tank is 5' long not 6', and i think thats not a 100, since mines 60"-18"-24" insteadcof 20" high.

Its roughly 93.5 gallons, which some manufacturers would round to 100 gallons. A 60x18x24 is a 110 or a 115 depending on the maker.
