I am thinking about on building 230 gallon plywood fish tank and I was wondering how long it would hold water.

Depending on how well you build it, it can hold from one month to five years! Just make sure you don't use "just enough" materials and try to over do it if possible. Such as when you put epoxy or liner in make sure its extremely secure. Be careful and make sure you use more than enough material
