if I get a2 or 3inch channel catfish how long would I have till it out grew a180 gallon tank(6x2x2)

Each fish of course is different and depending on your water quality, feeding, water changes, ect your results will differ. Ime should last 1.5-2 years max or if you use the 2x bl for the depth of the tank rule less than a year and this depends also on what size the fish is when you purchase it. Channels grow very fast ime.

Agreed. Can't add much to this. Channel is #1 farmed fish in the USA for a reason.
