Buying fish today before I head back to university tomorrow. How long do you think the fish could stay in the bag? Should I put them in a bucket with air stone then transfer back to bag tomorrow?

When fish are shipped they stay in a bag for about 24 hours. As long as the bags stay at a good temperature, and each one has only a few fish, they should be able to live in them for about that long.

You gonna drive or flight?
*Drive: put them in bucket with air stone and be sure the temp is stay consistence.
*Flight: I'm not sure they let you board with live fish in your luggage though, if you put it in a bag then make sure you fill the bag with Pure Oxygen and place it in thermal box....it's cold up there :)

well they will be in the bag for around 24 hours

Don't feed them until once they've settled into their new tanks also. You don't want them fouling up their water in transport.

My biggest concern was the ammonia reacting with the air when the bag is opened after being closed for almost 16 hours now. Only temp acclimation I guess

It went well. Ended up being almost 24 hours in the bag no drip acclimation only temperature. Within 2 hours they were eating here's a pic 3 hours after they were dropped in. Tank needs some maintenance after 10 days of no care.
