How many discus could i fit in a 150 COMFORTABLy with some other small fish like neons and tetras

a 150 as in a 125 but taller?

i'd stick to six... leave some room for the tetras etc and still keep good water quality easily..

Neons won't do well at discus temps. They tend to slowly die off one by one at 82 F plus temps. Cardinals will do great. Some other types of tetras can be fin nippers with discus. To give you an example, I have a 125gal. with 13 adult discus in it. I also have a planted 240gal. with 9 discus, 50 cardinals, 4 clown loaches, 2 bristlenose, and about 12 to 15 otos. However, both of these tanks have sump filters, and drip water change. It's very important to be able to keep up with your water changes, and the drip helps a lot. So, to answer your question, I would say 6 to 8 discus, with some other small fish max, with great filtration and keep up with water changes. Discus are big protein eaters. If you load it too much, you'll have to fight a constant high nitrate level without frequent huge water changes, or drip to help out.

i was just getting at leaving room for other fish... rams, cories, rummynoses etc..

but good additions..

yes i have s sump and do every other week w/c although latley it has been every week

Are you going to get adult discus or juveniles? If you are getting adults, I'd run 14-16 and if you are getting young ones 24-30 and thin them out as they grow.

Heh, in my 125 I think I have 17 adults. And 5 juvi loachs that will be moved when they get bigger. I tend to have to do water changes ~25 gallons every 3 days.

ok well i only have 220 so i dont think that 12-20 will work right now but im saving up so how much money woul di need to do it succesfully
