I haven't kept Angels since I was in high school (10+ years ago) and then it was in a hodge podge community tank

I am just talking about "regular" Angels you would find at most LFS.

Needs to be for life. There will be no upgrade anytime soon.

Also, if I remember correctly, Angels utilize the upper water column correct? Or maybe it was just the 3 I had back in the day.

Thank you.

Right now I have 7 young adults growing out in a 90 and its looking a little tight right now. I think 5-7, depending on how pairs form, would be ideal & give you room for other fish as well.

The general rule of thumb is 1 angel per 10 gallons of water. I don't recommend less than 6 angels per tank unless its a breeding pair. Others will say 4 is the minimum to avoid too much conspecific aggression, but IME it can still be too few depending in the personalities of the individual angels.

In a 90, I would do 6-7 angels with a school of 6-10 cories, a school of a dozen small tetras (neons, cardinals, rummy nose, etc) and 2-4 dwarf cichlids (rams, apistos, keyholes, or laetacaras). That is the ultimate angel tank IMO.
