I have a 45 gallon tall. i think its 36x12x24. its an old tank and weird size, ive never seen another one like it in person yet, maybe i should get out more. anyway, im wanting to set it up for angels. how many should i start with? i want to get them no bigger than half dollar in size.

I also wanted to ask about foilage in an angel tank. i see them almost completely bare and i see some loaded with plants. i've read that angel prefer coverage and if that is true what kind of plants should i lean towards?

Vallisneria, echinodorus, cabomba and myriophyllum to name a few. What plants are you using? I've seen some of mine eaten by my angelfish and they're usually elodea and nymphaea species.:screwy:

:welcome: to MFK!

if you add several angels together in your tank, you increase the chance of forming a pair. if this happens they will become very aggressive and make all the others stay to one side of the tank. it is best advised to remove the other fish or them and allow them to breed (if you want to) or just seperate them.

You can put a group of 6 young fish.
Since you dont want them to grow larger than half a dollar size there wont be any problem cause they wont start breeding at that size.
Good plant choices for angels include amazon ,cabomba and vallisneria

they still grow! angels, silver dollars, discus, severums, etc. they all like tall tanks being there taller fish. your group of 6 angels are going to get larger then half dollar size whether you like it or not. it may take longer depending on what methods you use to stunt there growth but expect them to pair.

Are you suggesting to stunt them? I don't find this rather good advice.;)

Youcould put 6 youngsters in there.once a pair forms youll need to take the rest out.Nice size tank for a pair of angels
