A while ago i went to one of the largest LSF in Malaysia to check out their Bichirs.

Usually it would be uncommon to see more then 5 Bichir (Senegals excluded) at a LFS. But this time I saw a tank full of 3" little Ornates, a tank full of endlis (many short bodied), and Delhezis with very nice patterns. There easily could have been a hundred to a tank. They had tanks with larger specimens 20"+ too.

It got me wondering how good is the selection of Bichir in other parts of the world. Do you guys get singletons? A limited few? Enough to get you spending the better part of the day just selecting one? Or so many that you can't even keep track?

I never see any here except baby Senegals and once I saw two very small Ornates for like $45 each. I've seen a large Ornate once at another LFS but it was a trade in from someone that they were asking like $80 for. I asked about smaller ones and he said they could *special order* them but he doesn't stock them so even small ones would be $50 or more.

i usually see a bunch in my area. i think they seem pretty common here, but i just never got into the bichir thing. been tempted many times but havnt done it yet.

not very common to see them for sale here in vegas... but lately my lfs has a lot of ornates and sens.. sometimes they have some dels.

Senegalus and that's it. And even sens aren't that common here, though last time I was in they had some little ones and a few larger ones which is unusual.

where is it bro? is it at SHAH ALAM?

Usually just 2-3 senegals (never all in the same tank for some reason). There was one time last year that they had a tank with around 5-6 albino "armored bichirs" (they were probably just albino sens, but I can't remember exactly what they looked like). Other than that, I have never seen any bichirs other than sens at the lfs. Actually, I have never even seen any other species in person before.
