How many bichirs to get?

Hey guys, Im looking into getting a bichir or bichirs. I will put them with my arowana in a 40g till i get the big thank in a few months. so my question is, How many bichirs should i get? should i only get one ? or should i get three? i hear they do better in groups.?

Btw i would be getting sengal bichir or ornate. Those are my options at the lfs

i have an endli bichir in my tank, got him from the local lfs. i got him when i got my aro. a week later i went to the lfs and saw a pretty small delhezi and bought him. the next day my endli ate him whole. just make sure you get about the same size bichirs, and the same size as your aro.
 
at least a 100G to start with...and at the lfs i usually only see senegal and ornate... so how many should i get?

Tigrey :) yes they will be probably a little smaller then the arow.. but that will be ok

it should be ok, just as long as they are not super small then your aro might try to eat them. you might want 1 senegal they get pretty crazy active in tanks, but you can get as many as you want.
 
Do ornates and senegal get the same size? Which one would you recommend? And no they arent super small, they are probably about 3" so about an inch smaller then the aro.. Btw i love watching mine eat... im trying to teach it to hand feed:)

Tank bred senegalus gets to 10", Ornatipinnis grows to 20".;)
I would recommend the ornate, the aro may look at the sen as food as the aro grows.
How big is the aro now?
 
Its about 4" maybe a little bigger
