Hi!

I have a 66-gallon tank (48" x 16" x 20") and I would like to keep blue acaras in it. I would get a small group of little babies from a breeder and, if need be, I would return some as they get older (either keeping only a pair or removing only the more aggressive ones if most of them get along). I might add 3 bristlenoses, but I'm not sure yet, because I don't have any algae and I'm worried the acaras might steal their wafers.

But I'm wondering, in the unlikely event where all the acaras get along and I can't find any aggressive ones to remove, how many fully-grown acaras could live in a 66-gallon tank when it comes to bioload and swimming space? (taking the 3 bristlenoses into account)

Welcome aboard

I suggest a group of 4 but when 2 pair off I personally would rehome the other 2. If you did 50% water changes weekly you should be good.

Thank you! I was thinking of buying a divider just to be ready to separate them quickly in case a pair wants to breed and gets too aggressive.
