How many cichlids, Lets say all are around 8-1o" , can I overstock in a 150g?

ok good..

I have a 9" red texas ( tank boss)
5" Carpinte male
5" red evil female
3x 3-4" king king parrots ( harmless)
4" female festae

How many more of these average sizes can I house in the 150g and have them grow to full size?? I want them to grow too.. Water changes every week or 2 weeks. 150g is all I can do right now.

Im asking to know in advanced.. Im going to put more fish in there anyway to see. I do have a spare 75g with divider for problem fishes..

I think a better question would be, how many can I keep healthy and happy? That is a question that has hundreds of answers. Depending on compatability, agression levels, and a general fish to fish bases. Also one must take into acount the possability of breeding of any kind will sway aggresion levels of even the most docile cichlids. Then you have filtration and aquascape to take into account. As both of these can be ditermining factors. Really that is a very vague question. If I must answer I would say anywhere from one really aggresive cichlid up to around 8 or 10 fairly docile ones.

Be a little more specific what cichlids are you looking at getting? What kind of filtration are you runing? Is the tank a standard 150 or does it have an odd footprint? What are you going to scape your aquarium with? What are you trying to get out of setting up a central or south american cichlid tank? I think that you should first ask yourself these questions and after doing a little research on some of the fish you want then post up your idea, it will be much easier to answer your question if we have a starting point.

With that stock you could be fine. There are a few brutes but most of those fish can hold there own. I wouldent add any more. Carpentis, red devil, festea, and texas are all pretty big more around the 10-12 inch mark and all can have a bit of an attitude. I don't know what a king king parrot is do you have a scientific name on those?

I want them to be happy and healthy. That's most important to me.. The ones I have now are all healthy and colorful. I dont think they are happy with tank mates. They'd rather have the tank all to oneself. But I will train them to get used to that so they can all be friends and live together with not too much violence.
Yeah.. I want more fish in the tank. I will have to try and mix and match.. I mixed and matched them and it came down to these guys remaing.. Got rid of the others..

I just want more of them to look at in one tank and not have problems in the tank.

I think the only down side to our hobby is we can't view all our favorite tank busters in the same tank. I have a fairly over stocked 110 right now and I know it sucks to get rid of fish. I have a buddy who overstocks all his tanks to keep aggresion down. And its another way of keeping fish. Its just not the way a lot of people on here keep fish. He actually dosent post on here, just reads because he got flamed all the time he just has his way I have mine and you have yours and none is any better then the others. Do what works for you. But since your over stocking I will give you a pointer my friend gave me and that was to try to do one cichlid from each family vieja, parchromis, nandopsis etc. He says its the best way to reduce aggresion and hybreeding. If your fish look and act happy and healthy. Then they probably are. Hardest part is keeping the aggresion down and festea..... anyway happy fishkeeping.

Nice looking fish too.
