Im about to pick up a 135 Gallon tank and i want to fill it up with Piranhas, ive come to the choice of getting Cariba or Caribe Piranhas. I was wondering how many you think i should get for the 135 gallon?

Also any tips on running a tank like this with these type of piranhas would be appreciated, im new to this.

thank you.

Make sure your tank is cycled before you add these pricey pygo's. I would buy 10x then sell off the ones you do not want to keep. There is a special right now @ 10=$200 from pedro @ aquascape. Prob is your tank not ready for them atm.

How long do you think it takes to cycle a 135 gallon tank?

Depends on if you stick to the program or not. Cycled means you will have 0 ammonia 0 nitrites but some nitrates.

Well considering that caribe piranhas are only available for a certain period of time, is there any way to speed up the cycle of the tank? i dont want to miss out on my oppurtunity to get these piranhas.

most people will tell you not to over stock u will get answers like 2 or 3. for a 125 gallon put as many as u want just remember that the more fish means more nitrates. i got 13 reds in mine and my nitrates go off the chart if i dont do 50% water change every other day. it takes me about 4 minutes to drain 65 gallons out using a inch and a half pool vacuum hose hooked up to my FX5 . but to fill back up with a 5/8 garden hose hooked up to my shower head takes about 15 minutes.
