Hi peeps, im buying a channel cat in the summer 4 my pond! I was wondering if i could keep 2 together (a golden and a common), also i was going to put them in a 35UKgallon tank for a month or so to feed them up. Would they fight??? I know they grow fast ive kept 1 b4 but the cat got it. Any an all info would be great thanx

They should be fine in that size tank for a little while if there small. Also I had 1 albino channel cat and when he was by his self he just hovered in the tank. I got two more and they do nothing but shcool around and I haven't seen any sign of agression between them at all. They are only about 8in right now but I say go for it.

My albino channel is curious, but will eat whatever fits in his mouth. He doesnt cause any harm.
I'd say go for it.
How big is the pond?

The ponds not huge holds about 510UK Gallons, im looking at increasing it in the next few yrs. Im jus gonna set the tank up with a sand base and a few pipes 4 them to take cover in. Also jus light one side. I was looking 4some last yr but couldnt find any!!! Defo gonna get two now! J

:woot:

id say get four. two albino and two common. espcially if your going to increase the size of the pond.

also stock the pond with small goldfish and gambushia>sp? the cats love them and it'll cost you less in the long run on food.

also only feed them about twice a week. they'll keep the pond cleaner and free of frogs, mice, and bugs if there forced to find their own food. but while their in the tank feed them as much as you like, just dont over do it.

also putting floating plants like lillies, water lettuce (and i forget what the other one i had in my pond was, it was green, about 12" tall and had big bulbs at the base that they floated on and the roots hung down, very colorful when they bloom.) in there will help keep them from jumping out and they'll be more active during the daytime,

Sound, got lillies and duck weed already! Was also gonna put a load of goldfish in, the weather gets to cold to bother with mosquito fish! Ive over wintered channel cats b4 in a shallower pond so this one is about 12" deeper they should do fine! Nice 1 4the info. and comments anyway J

 :headbang2

i had 2 blue channel cats together and they werent aggresive towards eachother at all, acutally they looked more like school fish together

one died one day and im still not shur why but since then the other one seems "lost" to me (he acts a little different then he used to)
