Planning on building a glass tank with the dimensions 160x90x70cm thats 5.2x3x2,3 in feet :)
So I was wondering how many cichlas I can have in it? I was mostly planning on holding like 10 kelberis and 5 melaniaes
I know they cant be in it their whole life but the are gonna go in the 600 gal when they are to big but how long can they be in the 280 gal?

anyone?

15 fish? Hmmm. What size are you starting them out at? What is your planned filtration and water change schedule? A lot of people may be staying quiet because the answer is going to be varying degrees of 'not long' if you're starting out with 8" juvies.

I am planning to put 6 kelberi and 6 azuls in to my 220g (6'X2.5'X2') in one month's time. They will be around 4"-4.5" then. I usually do 2 X 50% water changes/week on that system. I think I should be able to get 6 months out of it. Anyway, I think it will be more of a "do and see how it goes" thing. If the water parameters go out of control or if the fish look really cramped in there I might have to move them before or after 6 months period.

If kept healthy expect about an inch per month. If there 4-4.5" now. In 6 months youll have 12 10+" fish. I would cut the # in half.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think your gonna see 1"+ growth per month from kels. At least in my experiences I didnt

Hmm okay my filtration plans is a fluid bed filter :) the same that I have in my big tank and that pump 10 000 gallons/a hour
I was thinking a size between 5 inches and 7-8 inches
