I have tried searching the web before but never found a good answer. How many cray can you have in a tank? I have a 70 gal with one fancy blue. I'm looking to get a white and a generic looking cray. The one currently had 2 places he hides.

I would search on here but am on my phone.

I keep a few crayfish myself. Most all experts say that they are quite territorial, there for keeping more than one cray in one tank is not recommended. :nono:I personally haven't found my crays to be very territorial, I have two in a 30 gal with my feeder fish. There is a clear size dif, so they never fight one will simple run away when ever they get close to one another. I imagine that if you had to that are similar in size they would kill each other. That would be bad.

You could put a couple of crays in a 70 gal easily, however your blue might eat them if you are referring to the fish i think you are. If you do put two or more in the tank make sure you have several hiding places per cray.

Hope that helps please correct me if I'm wrong. :feedback:

You should be fine with a few. Just make sure you have plenty of hiding places. Crays usually only kill each other when they molt. Why bother to try to kill someone whose covered in armor when you can wait for them to get naked then cut them up? So if you got plenty of hiding spaces for them to hide while they regrow their skin, you should be good. 3 should be fine in a 70 gallon. Just make sure they are well fed.

Thanks a lot! I never thought about the fact that they really probably cant take each other out when the shells are hard. And if i notice one molt i can always put him in a breeding net with the molt.

Big crays are still more than capable of doing damage to smaller crays even with when they are "armored" It's just that conflicts between then usually end up with both fleeing. It all depends on the aggression, size, territory, and sometimes sex, of each cray.
