i want peaceful colourful fish that are easy to maintain because the dogs are a handful as it is lol. im thinking 10 but dont know. and thinking of dropping in a few white skirt tetras in there with them
I kept about 4-5 in a 55 but they all eventually outgrew the tank and moved to a pond. Healthy goldfish will get quite large and are pretty messy.
If you like Tetras you might want to consider some other tropical community fish. Gouramis, Angels, rainbows, all easy to care for.....
goldfish are great but 10 would be pushing it for the long haul. With proper filtration you could probably house 5-6 maybe fully grown in your tank. Obviously the fewer fish, the less work involved in maintenance
yea im just looking for something that looks nice and isnt too elaborate . its in my bedroom and im freshly single so i need to make sure it looks nice lolz
Add a sump or some sponges to those powerheads and 5-6 should be fine with 30-40% WC every 2 weeks. The key is to not let their cavernous tummies get the best of YOU. Maintain an auto feeder twice a day with nominal amounts of flake would work well, IMO.Add some hearty plants and let nature do its thing!
Fancy goldfish probably won't do well with lots of current. They don't swim well and their long flowing fins add drag. My standard goldfish move the gravel around alot looking for food. I feed my big 8-10" goldfish pellets, some sinking some floating. Little tetras aren't going to eat pellets and they're probably not going to pick around in the gravel looking for food either. I also heard that goldfish don't have stomachs. I guess that is why they are hungry all the time. Since goldfish are from temperate/cooler water, you may want to consider white cloud mountain minnows and weather loaches as tank mates.
Make sure its really cool fish so when you ask somebody to come to your room and check out your tank they arent disappointed!! Ive found tanks to be great ice breakers in an sometimes odd situations. I have found my SA's to get good reactions
