wondering how many fish is too many for a 10g tank?...i have 2 african dwarf frogs,1 black molly,2 zebra danios & 2 mickey mouse platies...and i was thinking of getting a few fancy guppies or some other small fish..but didnt know if that would be over crowding my tank or not and wanted to make sure before i went out and bought them...any advice would be appreciated :duh:

I am sure you could add a few more like 2 or 3 without out a problem. Not really use to doing small tanks though. I have a 10gl and 20gl but those are for feeders.

Id say that your about at capacity. A 10g tank doesnt have alot of room, and you already have 5 fish and 2 frogs. I think more fish is just another reason to buy more aquariums! lol

maybe you should buy like 2-3 more danios they will be happier in a school, the more the merrier with schooling fish. with only two together they wont be as happy as they would with 4+ danios in there with them.

The danois would be happier with 3 more or you could add about 5 guppy sized fish.

I use the smaller tankz for grow out of the younger fish. I've had my 20gal full of 18 baby Geophagus sp. 'Red Head Tapajos',4 Satanoperca jurupari, 3 baby Crenicichla sp. 'xingu II', and 4 Cory cats..can't member the species. The largest fish were the pikes at 3"...haha...largest geo was 2". I had the tank WAY over filtered (two filters rated for 60gal tanks each..haha) to make sure things stayed in check and did water changes weekly. As they grew I gradually would move them up to the next size tank and so one. Key thing is watch your bio-load. Over do it or not have enough filtration and you have problems. The fish got along nicely and it actually wasn't that crowded....not something I would recommend as every day practice though.

Go with more Zebra Danios, they love being in a school together. If you're worried about overstocking, just increase your water changes. Good luck with it... and any excuse for a bigger tank is a good excuse anyway!
