Whenever you look up "freshwater jellyfish" the first, and only thing that usually comes up is "Craspedacusta sowerbyi". For that reason I thought that was the ONLY type of freshwater "jelly" around (its actually a hydroid) but in my quest to find out what kind of jellyfish I saw at the petstore was (thread about that in the marine section) I encountered this guy

"Breede River Jellyfish".

This species doesn't even have a scientific name. I have never seen or heard of anything like this before. Does anyone here know anything more about any other types of freshwater jellies?

They exist locally but the conditions required to promote the adult form's presence are not fully understood. I know nothing about the jelly you ask of, just that I looked into it and it seems to be a short-term deal for the most part even with moderately good care.
