I have the opportunity to get some young frontosa for a new 125 gallon 6 foot tank that I am setting up (filled partially from an established tank along with a HOB from an established tank that i'm tearing down... I'll add another filter soon to increase filtering capacity). I basically can get as many as I want, so how many youngsters can I fit in there to grow up together and form a breeding colony? I believe he told me they were burundi, but i'll need to double check...

I'd say plan for 5-7 in a 6 foot 125. I recently picked up 3 adults, did some reading before hand and that's the numbers I kept finding.

That's interesting because I kept finding that I could do 10, lol. As far as water changes, I'll be doing lots no matter what! Any other input? Or are frontosa suddenly not popular or too popular... ;)

To be on the safe size (not overstock) it would be 6 (2male, 4female). You can put up to 12. I would not go pass that. 12 means overstocking with every little room. At 12 you would need a very good filter for it. I recomend 6 only. They will need the room to breed and they do eat alot. Just pretend that they are bigger than hand size. Put 6 hands in your tanks. That should give you an idea on how many you want.

I am keeping a a group burundi 8 in a 150 and 8 in a 130. The two tank are piped together. I don't really like overstocking because I am afraid of power outage.

I would go 10 and then adjust. Very popular Tangs would be easy to get rid of a few

Ok, so what I'm going to do is start with 10 and weed out some of the extra males as they grow. Thanks guys!
