how many fry should i expect?

i have a fairly young pair of convicts, both are about 2". just got them 2 weeks ago. they have already spawned and eggs have hatched. from my research i was expecting to get 70-120 fry. its difficult to count all the fry i have but it sure does apear that i got less than 40 fry.

is this spawning small because it is their first?
should the cluctches get bigger as the convicts mature?
or is 40 fry about what i should expect everytime?

dependent on female's size, and since cichlid growth often greatly diminishes during repeated spawnings, yeah youll be expecting the same amount of fry every time they breed.
