i was just wondering how many african cichlids could fit in a 75 gal considering i'll be picking one up in the next few weeks

and what are easy to breed mbunas

id say you could "fit" 400 or more dead ones.
or you could do an aquarium with water and have 35 or so alive.

If you are going with Mbunas, overstock it with males, it will cancel out most aggression if you do overstock, don't throw any females in there. If you go with Haps, dont over stock as much, since they do grow a bit bigger.

It Really depends on the fish. In my 75 I keep 12 full grown matumbi hunters which I think is overstocked. In my 55 I keep 6 cynotilapia afra likoma which I think is understocked

It's all about over filtration. I have 16 mixed cichlids in a 55, most are mbuna, some haps, a peacock, and a couple sa's. It is a very calm tank. But I have alot of filtration. A 55 gallon hob, and a 550 gph diy canister. Also I have a 30 gallon sump I could add if i needed to. Overstocking cancels helps the weaker fish slip into the pack, and go unnoticed. Hope this helps some.

^^^ so yr saying lots of filtration cancels aggression???? Or am I reading that wrong?

Yeah your reading that wrong.. The part where my post says "cancels" isn't supposed to be there, I deleted a sentence but missed that word. What I meant was that if you overstock you need extra filtration, and that overstocking doesn't reduce aggression. It helps the fish thats being targeted slip away from the aggressor. That is common knowledge.
