how can you figure how many gallons a hex tank is?? i have 2 hex tanks one around 20 or more and one around 40 or more..

If I remember right a 3' wide 3' tall circular tank should hold around 150g, not 33g. I think the formula for the volume of a cylinder is hieght x [pi x (radius squared)], the volume of a hex should be close to the volume of a cylinder the same hieght.

Subtract the total of all your triangular volumes from the total volume of the cube. If i remember correctly from my days building speaker boxes, this should get you your total volume, from this point you mulitply that by the gallons per cubic foot(or inches) ratio, which i believe is approx. 7.45 gallons per cubic ft. Total volume of Hex tank X 7.45 = Total gallons.
(this is based on a formula used for caluclating airspace) its been awhile but i believe this is correct, but it has been awhile so dont bash me if im wrong..lol
Easy way (IMO): Fill up each tank a gallon at a time and dont lose count
