I found this while browsing craigslist.

I emailed the lady this was her rough estimate on the dimensions of this tank "2' / 1.25 / 2.5"

I was wondering how many gallons this tank would hold and how much I should give her for it? She selling it along side with a couch, table, some entertainment centers etc.. All kinds of junk and I'm pretty sure she'd take $30 for it, probably even less. The only bad part is that its a half hour drive from where I am. What would you pay (top tank + stand)?

thanks so much, I didn't know about that tool either, but I do now. Thanks for the opinion but I have to get my other fish into tanks first. I don't know why but all thats ever interested me were aggressive African cichlids.. What a bad combination for me and my small tanks..

and with the tool it came up with "46.82gallons" which will be a much better tank for my 12inch midas until I can get him in something even bigger.

your gonna want something that is longer than that. longer is better than taller for your midas. id say at least 3 feet(that wouldnt be optimal). but it would do if you plan on upgrading again. itd be easier to just save up and get the biggest tank you can. he has already been in your 30 gal. for 2+years so a few more months prolly wouldnt hurt.

if you end up getting the tank in that picture you will prolly be disappointed shortly after getting it.

Its only 2ft long! How can a midas live in that, and even a 30G!!! Still a good pickup if you wanted some small fish.

I understand that but anything I can get thats bigger for him right now would be better, right? Right. I'm going to get him a bigger tank as soon as I can afford one or when I find a good deal. Any tank I get I plan on using for something either way. None of my old tanks are going to go to waste. My other fish need bigger homes too. So once I get a new tank I plan on swapping a lot of fish in and out of new/old tanks.

Why dont you just skip all the bigger but still small tanks, and opt for 1 big one, like a 150,180 or something? Sell some goods. You may get the cash in a quarter-half year, but its better than having to move a midas from a 30G, 40G, 35G, 50G, 62G etc.
