How many Geo. Red/Orange heads?

I'm not sure which I'll be getting (redhead or orangehead) it all depends on what I can find that won't break the bank. I'll probably be buying in the under 2" range.

Tank is 72"x20" footprint. I pretty much want a species only tank, the only other thing will be a group of clown loaches and I may get a school of tetra or rainbows to color things up.

They are the same fish. I would say a group of 6 would be about right. 2M/4F

Clown loaches are fry and egg eating machines ide stay away from them. As jgentry said the are the same species only difference is the collection point but they share the same water. Check out this website

Not interested in breeding or saving fry, just a nice looking tank.

I'd think at least 6-8. I haven't had much luck keeping CLs with Geos, because most Geos are very aggressive eaters and there may not be much left for the CLs.

How tall is the tank? Some angels or festivums would make a lovely tank.

Tank height is 25"...never thought of angels....but now that I think of it that would make a great looking tank!

And in regards to the CL - I want to try a small group in this tank (5 or 6) and if needed can move them into one of my other tank. I just think the colorations of the CL and Orange Heads would be an awesome setup...now some Angels and this tank is going to look gorgeous!

Alright, so figure 6-8 Orange Heads, 5 Clown Loaches and some Angels (not sure how many, have to look into this - if anyone has kept Angels in the past feel free to chime in on how many would work).

You have one of the premier angel breeders in the US in your backyard...check on your home forum and find him.

Yes minnfish. I used to keep red heads and they were great. Someday I will have a large tank full of them again. Good luck on your quest, the stock you have in mind sounds great.

I have 6 rio tapojas red heads in a eartheater community tank with a pair of large angels and had no issues... 6 would be minimum for these guys an they are easy to care for.
