How many can i fit into a 55 gallon tank, i currently have 2 but would like maybe a small schoal of them? like 4? could i house them for life? i think mine have stopped growing at about 6"

By my experience If they are spoted hujetas they can get up to 10'' so a 100 gal tank will be much better
seriously? a 100? in the first 6 months they've maybe grown an inch, there growth has slowed down to ntohing.
They can get to 10-12" in aquariums and possibly larger.. As they get bigger in the wild.
I kept 6 in a 75g 48" x 18" tank for a couple years. IMO that would be the minimum tank size for a group.
If they were the only fish in the tank then you might get away with 4 in a 55g for a good while. But not for life.
I have a few in a 125g now and from time to time they get a bent or broken nose from bashing into the glass chasing food. So even a 125g isn't perfect.

oh wow, how long have you had yours? mine have been right about 5-6" for what seems like forever. Do you have any pictures of them any bigger than that?
