i currently have 12 reds and they are all pretty much adults. would a standard 180 be way too small, or suffice for a while? any advice is welcomed. aslo have an 8" black diamond in a 100gal. how long until i need to move him?

I think a 180 would be fine with 6 RBP.

I don't know much about rhoms though, sorry.

What do you have them in now the 180? I personally think that 12 is a few to many- but im sure you could get away with it- they will definitely fight/ let you know if not. With that said the general rule is 20 gal per Nat. Lets see some pics!

I would just keep all 12 and pimp out your filtration. They should have enough room and if you are on top of your filtration and water changes you wont have any issues.

i dont know about reds.. but with chiclids you can keep allmost an unlimited amount of fish in a tank. but you need the filtration and WC to keep up with the bio load

yeah like 30 oscars that would be cool.:nilly:

i think you should be fine i kept 9 adults in a 100 gal no fights just keep the water clean good filtration and keep them full. the rhombeus is fine in the 100 gal. i don't think you'll need to move him to a bigger tank for a while. good luck
