How many is a safe number of jars in a tank?

Well, how many jars is a safe number in the tank? My buddy really likes my silver aro and is thinking of getting one but is concerned with how big they get. He is building a 500 gallon tank and I just thought, maybe jars would be a better answer. I know they are aggressive and wanna know if you can keep a certain number of them together to sooth and calm them into a communty. Anyhow, he has quite a few large tanks and I was just inquiring. If its was possible for his set up in the 500...

You could always try as different fish have different "personalities", but the safest number of jars in a tank will always only be one. Some jars can be kept with other with, but others will kill all their tankmates.

I believe that there are also ways to reduce aggression in tanks of predatory fish, which may (or may not) help..

u flaked on ur idea cuz a bunch of us say dont do it? i'd do it anyway, there's another guy on here trying this experiement as we speak, i believe he has like 5 or 6 jars in the same tank and there all about 4-5", i wonder how there doing.

Well, I'm trying to make a tank thats gunna have a better probability of working. Also its harder for my to get jars here then blacks for some strange reason...its hawaii. No problem getting silvers though.

putting multiple aros together is always a gamble regardless what kinda aro it is, i saw a tank full of about 20 silvers and they were fighting like crazy

saw a tank full of about 9 jardinis, all looked prestine

never seen a tank with more then 1 black in it, if it even had a black in it

saw a tank full of about 4 leichardtis, all looked like crap.

want a setup with a better probability of working?

pick what aro u like best, and add other fish as tankmates.
