I'm thinking of starting a kribensis tank and I'm not sure if I can keep more than a pair together in the tank. Is it better to have just one male in the tank? Can I have multiple females?

Are there any other cichlids that would be ok to keep with a pair of kribs? A Jewel? dwarf cichlids? Maybe I should just keep one pair and add some dithers?

you don't need too many pairs, 1 male and 2 females will be fine. No jewel(too territorial for a small tank), dwarf is ok.

If you are stuck with a 29 gallon, I'd go with one of the kribs smaller relatives ... Pelvicachromis taeniatus, P. roloffi, or P. subocellatus. Each is smaller than the common krib and less aggressive. Most races of P. taeniatus are also much more colorful as well. With one of those three species, it would be easy to add a group of dithers like jellybean tetras. The footprint just isn'y big enough for more than a pair of cichlids, so I wouldn't add anything else.
