How many lbs of sand do i need for a 55g?

my tank size is 4' x 1' x 1.5'. Its a normal 55 gallon tank. Oh and is pool filter sand silica good?

i have pool filter sand. Its the best imo. so easy.

i think for my 55... i used 1 bag of pool filter sand.... its hard to remember. I dont like a thick sand substrate, so mine was thinner. You might want 2 bags.

I guess i'm not really answering your question since i dont know how many lbs was in 1 bag.... but i think pool filter sand comes in only one size bag.

I've always gone by the rule of 1lb of substrate for every gallon of water.

Pool Filter sand is fine to use, It has been discussed here many times.
