I was wondering how many mbuna could i put in my 35g long. I just want a real colorful tank. Just wondering how many i could add without them killing each other
The types of fish i would be adding is
Yellows
Jalo afras
Blue zebras
Red zebras
Demasoni
Maybe flavus
1 acei have in fish pond is 6"
1 albino zebra in pond 4"

There is a fine line between adding enough to curb aggression and overcrowding the tank.

In the world of Africans -- and in your case mbuna -- usually the more the better to spread the aggression. You could probably add one of each from your list and be fine. Then just watch for a while to check aggression. IF they are beating each other up, you could add a few more.

Make sure you have enough hiding places for all of them. That's the other key to curbing aggression -- giving them a place to hide. I have about 100lbs of rock stacked in my 90g.

Just remember, the more fish you add, the more diligent you have to be with water changes and filter maintenance.

BTW, that acei and albino zebra will be the bosses, until the Demasoni grows up.

I would do yellow labs and demasoni.
It would give you a nice contrast with blue and yellow.

What are the dimensions of the actual tank? Footprint is the most important part of the tank. My assumption is that the tank is only about 3' long.

I would only choose from the following species:
Labidochromis caeruleus
Cynotilapia afra Jalo Reef
Pseudotropheus demasoni

The rest of the species need at least a 75g because of their full grown size and/or aggression. You will most likely want to go with the Lab/Demasoni combination, but be sure to go with a group of at least 8-10 Ps. demasoni - otherwise they will destroy each other slowly.

Not as colorful but definitely less likely to kill each other off is the Lab/Afra mix. I like this mix better - but I'm partial to Cyno's. :D

I would go with a group of saulosi or afras 2m6f.Labs can get a bit big for that tank.
