If you answered yes, what was your favorite exhibit and why?

Amazon exhibit featuring fish like Arapaima Gigas, Arowana, Peacock Bass, Piranha, FW Rays, Large SA Catfish, and other Cichlids etc..

African Exhibit with a wide array of African cichlids and Catfish...

Ocean exhibit with Sharks and Rays?

Native Exhibit featuring Large-mouth Bass, Walleye, Bluegill, Catfish, Turtles etc.

or name any others.

Would it interest you if an Aquarium also kept Reptiles that you could view, feed, and possibly handle?

Examples - Turtles, Tortoises, Geckos, Lizards, Snakes, etc...

I am asking just for my own personal research, any information you can share about your Aquarium experiences would be great. If there is something you'd like to see that isn't currently offered near you, mention it too.

Thanks

Down on the Tx. coast, was a ocean bottom display with what looked like a drill rig as deco. It had a pair of huge groupers 6-800lbs each. I don't remember any other displays from that day but that one, I just stood there in awh.

Around here in Western South Dakota most poeple think wallmart has nice fish ----WHAT A SHAME !

i make a point of going to every aquarium in a new place i go to.
although we stayed in bradenton FL last year and went to their 'museum and aquarium'.....when we got there the aquarium was just a large pool with 3 manatees and FAKE aquariums lol they had all these fish hanging from strings and stuff....it was soooo funny.

Im like Chloe ^ I make a point to go to public aquariums any time I am traveling, being a Colorado native the Downtown Aquarium in Denver is probably my favorite, there is of course the huge open ocean tank, which captivates nearly everyone, there is also a pretty good amazonian display w/aros, pima, dats, etc. They also have a big tiger enclosure with oscars and pacus swimming in the tigers waters. Its pretty cool.

i'm a personal fan of shark tanks. i've been to the florida aquarium a hundred times and they're shark tanks && shark petting zoo are the bomb. Props to having family down south, i've been snorkeling with some of these beasts too =D

The Monterrey aquarium's Kelp forest display was incredible, as was their jelly display and anchovy ceiling.

I've been to the New Orleans aquarium about 50 times probably. It seemed awesome growing up but I went last year and the SA area was riddled with man made and run of the mill common species (jelly bean/parrot cichlids and Marlboro discus... really?) that you could tell they bought at chain petstore or someone just donated. A lot of the marine section was much the same. The native section/oil rig, sea otters and jackass pengiuns were the best done areas.
I hear the aquarium in TN is pretty good, I've yet to make it all the way up there tho.

*neither of the pics are mine*

My favourite displays came from Pretoria Zoo, most of which were freshwater with lots of awesome local species - one of my favourite tanks was the one with an African tigerfish and a vundu catfish. Unfortuneately I didn't get pictures the last time I went.

However, my favourite public aquarium to take photos at is here in my hometown of Durban - uShaka Marine World. :)

Thanks. :)

That is kind of odd they have some man made fish there on display. I suppose to people in the hobby it's odd but to people who don't know fish and can't tell a Large-Mouth Bass from a Crappie they may still be captivated. I try to keep an open mind but I see your point for sure.
