It is 96" long and the guy at the store said to have a 300 watt at each end to be able to get 300 gallons above 80 degrees! Accurate or do I need more??

In my 300 all summer I got away with no heaters at all, now that winter is here, im experimenting with heaters in the sump...so far 300 watts in the sump is working very well...

Hopefully the streak continues.

I've got a 350 gallon tank and i run two heaters. 1, 300 watt heater and another 250 watt heater and they're both relatively close to each other. Temperature on the other side of the tank stays between 76-80. :)

repair told me that its not very effective, he had a different in temp between his tank and the sump.

you come across the same thing

AS long as the part where the fish live is good....im good! lol

i have a 268gal and i use 2 450watt heaters on an external thermostat in my sump, working like a charm for me. i would agree with billylee. rather be safe and with this amount of watts there are no fluctuations in temp
