I set up a 55 gallon cichlid aquarium for the office here at work. The first time at the fish store, my boss really wanted the oscars. I told her it wasent posable in our aquarium. Its hard for her to get past the fact that ya they may be 3 inches right now and really cute, but they are going to get bigger.

She was asking me yesterday how many she could put in a 100 gallon. Her friend has a 100 gallon that they want to get rid of, and will give her for free. I told her 2.

Is this correct?

the minimum for a pair of oscar would be 125g

2 oscars in a 100g, FINE.........Lots of filtrtion.....

Combination Suggestion:
Two Aqua Clear 101's....$59-79 each
FilStar Xp3 Canister Filter....$129.00 Ebay Direct

Do 25-35% water changes every week.....Basic diet should be color enahncing pellets, I prefer HIKARI.............

biggest thing is the dimension of the 100 gallon. if it's a tall and skinny tank (like a 55 but bigger) then i would say one oscar. if it's got a larger footprint then two 'may' work. individual personalities of each oscar is the big thing, and although they may get along while juveniles, they may start fighting once they hit maturity. be prepared to rehome one of them if things don't go well.

i'd say two big canister filters on there and nothing less for filtration. i'm currently running a rena xp2 and xp4 on my oscar's tank and although it is a tad overkill, my fish are healthy and thriving (partilapia polleni buddy in there too), and i'm not constantly mucking with filters to keep them clean.

People are saying 125g when they are full grown which wont be for 2 years or so. I think with lots of filtration, a 100g should be fine.

as already stated if she's willing to drop a couple hundred bucks on filters it can work

Nice avatar Greg31. I've actually watched that all the way through to the end. Took a while to find it. It's niicccce.
