I got a w/c Reticula and last night, she gave birth to a preme:cry:.
Didnt even know she was pregnant. To make a long story short, this is her 3rd loss since she arrived about 3 weeks ago (just found out about the 2 from arrival...), 2 in the airport and one last night. Im sure it was from ship and transfering so she was to stressed...
She is 6" Disc Dia and is eating perfectly fine.

Just curious on how many she could have??

also, what is the leinght of time they are pregnant for (asking cause I want to starve her to get her on market shrimp).

Thanks

What is she eating now? If she is still pregnant, I wouldn't starve her now.

Wow, those pups had to be tiny. I would not think she is carrying anymore.
I am surprised she could even carry three.

I am not starving her anymore. She is eating BloodWorms. I noticed her shacking and trying to kicking up sand... only prob is it is a bare bottom tank. She also shakes... I thought it was her trying to burry herself but now I think it was/is contractions

The Pup was the color of a white scallop and the tail looked like a string. Id say atleast 1 1/2" Diam and had black eyes with cloudy eyes. The mouth stayed wide open and had a hole in between the eyes. As for the mother, she left my tank cloudy as hell!!! It looked like if I died the water with a white color. I also seen her sack floating... Id say about 10 min later after I tried to wash up (just got back from soccer) to do a water change and clean out all the junk, the Golden Dorado ate half of the Pup. So sorry, no pics. After that, you could not tell it was a fish... yet a pup

Definitely fatten her up. The discolor was probably from water breaking.

Wow, sorry to hear.

She's only 6" and lost three pups, that's nuts! I thought females had to be bigger to start breeding and have pups. The pup loss could have been from the stress like you said, or it could be that she was simply too small/young to carry them to term.

I agree, I think she was rapped in the wild:ROFL:

Just incase there is one more, what do I do if a pup is born healthy?

do you have a male in the tank? if therei s one born healthy, remove the pup from the tank and take the same water and put it in a tank by itself you need to make sure it gets enough food and the adults dont kill it. the reason i ask about the male.... the sack u described sounds like a sperm sack... and its 90-100 days for each litter

Wow! Such a young mother. Sorry bout the pups!
