How many rainbow cichlids in a 55g

I found some rainbow cichlids for sale. I know they need about 50 gal minimum. Is thy just for 1? If not how many could I fit in my 55?

Don't know a lot about them, I owned some once and if I remember they only hit like 4-5 inches, so I think you could probably do like 5? No guarantee.

You could do 2 pairs in a 55 without much issue if you give them each their own territory. They are pretty mellow.

They grow no bigger then convicts. So I say 4 at the most but personally I wouldn't put more then a pair.

4/5 be ok they do only get the size of convicts , there not always that mellow though I've got one in with convicts and other s/c's it looks after itself alright

You could actually do 2 pairs of them in a 55gallon, you could also add 6 giant danios, a full grown bristlenose pleco (they top out at 4"), and 6 Cory cats or 3 clown loaches.

4-5 inches. Maybe about 4.

I grew out eight in a 55 to 4" or so then split them up. Two pairs work well in a 55 -- each pair will claim half the tank. Skip the blood parrots. They grow much larger.

I'd skip the blood parrots as well. They get bigger and can be territorial. Two pairs in a 55 would be good. You'd most likely get them to spawn. The BP would most likely prevent the spawn.
