How many rams can I keep in a 55 gallon. Simple question.

I wouldn't do more than 2 pairs, for small cichlids they can easily claim a 2' area. Maybe three pairs, if aquascaped properly. I'd get a bunch of juvy's and let them pair on their own like most cichlids though.

Okay another question I have is how active are they? I looking to get a pretty active fish that will be moving around the aquarium and pretty visible.

I find bolivians much more active than blue rams, especially since they enjoy living in a group.

My Blues don't hide if that is what you are worried about. Also, I had 2 pair up within 6 hours of putting the females in and eggs were layed the same night. Since it was their first attempt, I didn't expect much and the eggs were gone by morning. We'll see in a month if they try again.

I find that Bolivians tend to be more "active" but Ive never had the privilege to own GBRs but I did have an Apisto. who had tons of personality!
