Hi there I've just set up an order for a 84" x 30" x 24" L x W x H tank, I currently have a motoro in a slightly bigger tank and is growing well however this is a community tank and don't want to separate this, I was wondering how many rays could I safely keep in this? I intend to keep mainly marbles possibly even a black ray if the price is right, will be filtered by a 75G sump ran by a 3000 litres per hour pump.

Thanks for your help!

I personally think 2 is right as this gives them room and the nitrates are manageable. Many will say one or two more but this is my opinion. Rays have MUCH more room in the wild so we have to do our best for them.

I have a similar sized tank and I am going larger for my two.

if u had a much wider foot print like 8'x6'x3' depth doesnt really matter.. the rays would have plenty of room..
My buddies and myself keep around 4 in each tank.. 2f 2m or 3f 1m.. usually..
As long as u manage the water quality and nitrates.. everything should be fine..
I even have friends keeping 6 or more in one tank.. best i have seen was 12x8x4 with more den 4 species of rays..
around 15 pieces or more.. but of cos.. higher maintanence.. more frequent water changes..
