hi everybody im new here and i plan on purchasing a 90 gallon aquarium in a couple of weeks and i was wondering how many adult red bellies could i keep in a 90 gallon tank? Most websites ive read say 3-4 in a 90 gal but i would like to hear from some keepers of RBPs before i purchase and set up the tank any feedback is welcome

I have a 125 gal tank with eight in it right now, but they are only juveniles. I know it is a little much for the tank but they are all doing well. Id say you could probably do 5 adults in a 90 gal.

the general rule is 20 gals for each rbp for life..

so... i would say 4-5.. but since a 90 has the same footprint as the 75 i would probably go with 4..

they will fill out the tank when they get bigger.. :D i have 6 in a 125 and it looks like they are pretty comfortable...

thanks for the responses guys ill definatly be going with 4 for life which is what i was thinking orginaly but its always a good idea to get feedback from some keepers first. Thanks

I would start with few more than just 4 since some may get eaten by tankmates.
if all lived to adulthood you can sell the less prefect ones.

4 max for adults... juvie's you can get more and just sell the ones you don't want

yea 4 or 5 and alot of filtration these things are messy
