Alright, I have been setting up a 90 gallon aquarium for a while now, and my original plan was to keep my JD, with buenos aires tetras and red eye tetras in the 90. Haha, but now after watching these little red eye tetras, there is no way they will be able to live with a full grown Dempsey. Stupid me for thinking that was possible :screwy:

Currently the red eyes are in the 90, the buenos aires are in a 20 gallon quarantine, and my JD (only 3-4 inches) is in a 30.

Now my plan is to keep just the buenos aires tetras in the 90 with my JD, they are much larger, faster, and are not nearly as timid as the red eye tetras, and I feel that they will be fast enough to be alright in there. If not... the JD will take care of them and I will probably just find her a mate ;)

Since keeping these red eyes for a little over a month now, their color is amazing and I have really taken a liking to them. Now my question is, how many red eye tetras do you think I could thrive in my 30 gallon?

Sorry for such a long post, any feedback is appreciated. Thank you.

I would say a dozen, but the other tetras with your JD will eventually be food.

Thanks for the fast response, I have exactly a dozen now so thats perfect. At $1 each its ok if the other tetras become food.
