I would say get 10 juvies. Most likely, some will cannibalize. If all of them make it, you can sell a few adults IF your tank cannot handle the bio load.

If your growing them out get a dozen or so. When there full grown 8in+ then id say 20gallon rule so 6. But if your getting them at the 1 inch size no reason to start with a dozen and grow them out and down size the shoal as they get bigger.

I would start high ~10 and cut to 5 or 6 depending on filtration.
