Hello all, first time posting on MFK. I've been keeping African cichlids for about a year now and recently got a 90G tank, my biggest yet.
I've always wanted to keep larger species of fish and finally decided on Green Terrors / Gold Saums.

Instead of trying to raise an oscar or something with it I want to do a breeding pair. In order to find a good pair I'm thinking of buying maybe as many as 5 or 6 and letting them grow and pair off, then give away the rest.

I know this is how to do it with Africans but I'm new with the larger American cichlids.
Is this the best way I should do this?

Best bet is to start out with at lease 6 juvies and let them pair off.

Agreed, get youself at least 6 juvies and let them pair off naturally.
