How many severum in a 500 gallon(with tank mates)

Hello all ,

I just wanted to ask how many severums can i have in tank that also has an asian aro , flagtail , 6 geophagus altifrons and a few dither fish. Tank is 10 feet long almost three feet wide and 3 feet high .

I was thinking four...

I've never really had an issue with it before though I use it more as a guiding hand than a rulemaker. Depending on filtration and dithers, 8 sevs sounds realistic.

Then you're leaving out a lot of information as with what you have listed )not coutning whatever dithers you have) + 4 severum, you are at 72% stock suggestion.

What do you think of the stocking before the severums ? aqaadvisor isn't always that accurate in my opinion just gives you a foundation to work with

If you want to do big frequent wc's like every day to 3days, you can have lots n lots of severums in the 500. If you just want to do a wc every week to 2weeks or so, I would put a lot less severums in. The amount of food your feeding and filtration capabilities will help with your personal equation for your tank

Yup, thats why I said I use it as a guiding hand and not a rule maker.

It entirely depends, like Jay said, how often you wanted to do w'cs and your filtration, like I mentioned before. You seemed like you wanted 4 and just 4 but the truth is you could go higher or lower depending how much or how little work you wanted to invest per week.
Me for example, I don't mind doing a w/c every 2 days so I run my tank a little higher stocked than most would. My Geos are spawning as are my tetras and rainbows, even though those eggs never survive. Always dependent on how much work you want to do

probably do one water change(10-20%) a week....Dont worry I'm not a rookie but given the size of the tank i am bit confused and to be honest i would rather under stock love seeing fish have extra space..Im going to go with one severum and call my tank fully stocked for life ... Thanks boys
