I have the chance to pick up some 3 inch sevs. (I can get up to 10) . But how many could I house in a 125 with the pair I have and 3 angels , 3 dollars and a BGK as well as a featherfin cat and 3 cories . I have a fluval 405 and a 304 on the tank for filtration and 30% weekly water changes .

Do you got a pair of sevs already?? I'd say I'd get the three and some more silverdollars.

Yes I have a pair (7inch) green severums as well as the others mentioned . I can get up to 10 more sevs tonite all are around 3 inches (possibly they are offspring from my pair ) .

if you already have a pair, I'd go with maybe just two, definitely not too much more than that...the conspecific aggression can be a problem esp if the others are breeding

Woops I meant to post these pics on a different thread -sorry.

I would get 5~6 and growout to ensure you get the best looking pair. Trade/ rehome the others.

If you have 2 large ones already, are they male or female or both? As mentioned above they get nasty towards 1 another. I wouldn't put more than 2 in there and if I had a pair already I wouldn't put any more at all. If you have 2 males then add more males, or females with females. Male/Female is where the trouble starts in my experience.

The question is how long you plan to keep them. I agree with Bderick67 that you can keep quite a few for a little while, keep a pair in addition to your current pair, and rehome the rest. I once had 11 sevs in a 120 until they reached 4" and they were fine...lots of wc though.
