I have 3/4 inch roughly 7x24 that came out to two pieces one for top and one for underneath (top of bottom box frame).
I was also thinking of using 1/2 inch for the very bottom of the stand to help square it to the floor and figured since it comes out to two pieces again, why not add another to the bottom of the top box frame. I already had these pieces prior to getting the 3/4, just want to make use of it.
Each box frame would be sandwiched in between a 3/4 and 1/5 inch hardwood plywood.
Then finishing it with 1/8 inch for the skin.
So total three 4x8 sheets of plywood (3/4, 1/2, 1/8), around $80 total.
This seems overkill, but when you get a 4x8 piece of plywood and rip it in half, you end up with two pieces to use.
To save money, could I use the 1/8 in place of 1/2 for underneath the top and bottom box frames ? I'm using the same type of wood for all three and it only comes in those three thickness (3/4, 1/2, 1/8). I'm guessing the 1/8 won't do much for squaring to the floor though.
What do you think ?
