I want a nice dither fish in my 135 with my large CA/SA tank. I was looking at silver dollars or tigerbarbs. I want them to school in my tank..how many would I need for them to school?

I would go w/ 3-5 silver dollars. They get a little bigger and can take some of the beatings better than the tiger barbs.

Atleast 5.

Howdy,

I'd say 5-7 silver dollars

SD's are better in a group of five... I have 3 BBSD's in my CA/ SA community tank, and no problems, but I know 5 is much better. In relation to tiger barbs, the minimum is 5, better 7 or more, IMO. :D

Best regards.

Daniel.

And the silver dollars won't generally give beating to other fish-barbs are notorious fin nippers.

I kept a school of 4 silver dollars in a 125gal w/ cichild mix-then a male sd died, after 2 months the remaining 3 silver dollars began regular spawning (1 male two females)...snacks for the cichlids
