i have a 55 tank. how many silver dollars should i get with this setup?
1 oscar
1 jaguar
1 green terror
1 midas

2 african knives
1 peacock eel
? silver dollars

1 goldfish
1 common pleco
2 silvertips
1 pangy

I like to over filtrate and a nice shoal so I would say 7-10.

I think the Silver Dollars will out grow the tank pretty quick....Your stock seems more suited to two or three large tanks....Very few of your fish can last very long in a 55 by themselves!

holy cow are all this fish posted in this tank now ? if so then a nice shoal of 0 would be a good number but not to worry soon you will be left with just a midas he may do well for a bit in that tank

Totally agree. If all the fish that you mentioned are in a 55, then you are done as stocking goes. You will need a much bigger tank in the future. If this is just a growout tank, pick up the Silver Dollars when you place the other fish in their big tank.

The answer is none. Do you have all these fish in one tank? You are going to have big problems. They all grow in different sizes in different times so you will have plenty of aggression and I don't know why in a tank with tropical fish, you have a goldfish that's soon going to be a feeder. Have you read up on any of the fish that you have and how large they get? I don't know how long you've been keeping fish, and I know having monster fish are cool, but it won't be cool when your water conditions crash and all the fish either fight or get stressed enough to die. There isn't even a filter that you can use effectively on a 55 gallon tank with all those fish. Start slow, it will be worth it, The Doctor.

As stated above.... this tank is heavily stocked as it is. The future needs of the current stocking will require a much, much larger tank.

On a side note. Insults and attacks towards other members will not be tolerated. Keep it clean and informative.
