My 125g has been empty for about 4 months...and I have had caribe before. But I was thinking of trying Spilo's. My tank is 6ft long 18 wide and 20 something deep. How many spilo could live in there for life and would it be a entertaining tank as far as swimming activity? Thx for responses in advance

rrs are serrasalmus so they should be kept alone

Wow....I thought that you could keep them in a same species tank....that would be a total waste of space

well maybe but i full grown RRS would be cool in a nice semi planted tank

shoal of caribe! you won't be disappointed. or 500 exodons!

Spilos can be grouped together. I've had a group together for least 2years. I've had rbp with them also for months without a problem. They are aggressive and losses should be expected but it can definitely be done. There's few other keepers that have grouped spilos also.

wow uhh no it wouldnt

If you are talking about RRS, commonly known as ruby red spilos (hobbyist/fish trade name) then so far there hasn't been any reported successful cohab (at least in the hobby)
The fish multiple keepers had/have success with cohab or even breeding is S. Maculatus (or Mac for short), it also has other names such as gold spilo. If you know what you are doing then it is possible to keep them together in your tank, however, there's always the risk of aggression and cannibalism, it's the nature in piranha, I'm sure you are aware of it.
By science term that these two fish could be the same specie, just two different variants which resort the difference in appearance, further study is need to see if they are truly the same specie or two difference species.

They can be shoaled I would say 5 is the top and they need to be well feed and have them groups as when there small so they are used to cohading in the same tank. I would love to see pics of that set up if you do it
