How many types of pbass are there? And how are they each characterized? All i know is the Temensis is the one with the spotted markings all over the body. Does any one of those types grow faster than others, more aggressive than others, require more tankspace or i dont know basically i want to know everything there is about pbass, its my new fascination. Talk away!

there's probable hundreds of different types but maybe aorund 20 different species. Each species which lives in a different river may have a slightly different colour form and there fore classed as another type.

Most of the time it's jus very slight differences in colours inside the species.

to name some species theres temensis, occelaris, monoclus and orinocensis. there the main ones you will probable see then ones from specific rivers that aren't yet described would be somthing like Cichla Sp. "Xingu"

All bass grow pretty damn quick on the right diet and housing.

Here's a really good ID thread that DM made on aquaticpredators. It outlines the major species of peacock bass and alot of the cichla sp species as well as different variants of the major divisions from different river systems. ~Trent
